Getting to the “Heart” of It

We have all found ourselves in a random conversation where someone asks the age old question, “If you got to choose, what would be your last meal?” The answer is so easy for me…stuffed artichokes! Throw in a really nice steak and I would die a happy woman. Stuffed artichokes are my favorite food that I grew […]

#Twine (Twitter + Wine)

A year ago I was one of those people. You know…the ones who scoffed at social marketing, in particular Twitter. I thought to myself, “What in the world could I possibly gain from spending my time tweeting?” Then 2 friends of mine, who I now consider social marketing gurus of a sort, sat me down […]

A New Crush on an Old Grape

Every now and then, I taste a wine that is so unique and makes such an impression on my senses that I find myself wanting to run through the streets, spreading the vino gospel (at least to the folks willing to hear me ramble). Wines of this nature are a simple love/hate thing for me. As soon as […]

Summer through Rose Colored Glasses

My very first taste of wine was a Chianti. Then I progressed to Syrahs and Cabs and Italian varietals like Nebbiolo. In fact, I don’t think I ever drank white wine until I was out of college. The truth is my big Polish and Italian Catholic family had red wine running through their veins (okay […]

A Night to Remember with Trefethen

A good friend turned me on to Trefethen wines last year when he sent me home with 2 bottles of their Oak Knoll District Merlot. When I cracked the first bottle, I quickly realized that the second bottle wasn’t going to survive the night. I was an instant fan, so when the opportunity arose to host a […]

The Relentless Pursuit of Beauty

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting innovative Las Vegas artist A.D. Cook when I attended a charity event last year where his work was being featured. I had just entered the room and immediately the sensual image of a nude young woman with her back to the camera perched on an easel in the […]

An Evening with Andy Schweiger

As I bustle around the wine bar making final preparations for our winemaker dinner, I notice a man entering through the front doors carrying a cumbersome box (full of wine) and smiling from ear to ear. Before he has a chance to set down the box and get settled in, I am already greeting him, as […]

Going Home: The Wine and Dine Edition.

The passion for both food and wine was instilled in me by my family from the moment I entered the world, so it made perfect sense that on my recent trip to Denver I made plans to wine and dine the family. I told everyone that one night of the week was mine for the planning…oh yeah, and come hungry and thirsty! I tried to use local Colorado product, support small businesses when available, introduce my family to new flavors, and of course the fresher the better.

I recently spent some time with my family in Denver, which includes my Dad and his wife, my four brothers and sisters, their significant others and two baby nieces. My family is spread out all over the country so it is rare that all five siblings end up in the same place at the same […]

Inspired by (@nectarwine on Twitter and ) Link to original post… When I read Josh’s post on pairing wine with Rock-n-Roll, I thought it was a brilliant idea. He was actually inspired as well. See his blog for more details on that. My own feelings of inspiration got me thinking, as I […]
